IFCO2007MALTA
Developing foster care for children and families in the European Union, CEE, CIS and North Africa - new challenges, quality standards and solutions.**OCTOBER UPDATE - PROGRAMME ADDED - CLICK ABOVE** *** THE FINAL DAY FOR OVERSEAS REGISTRATIONS HAS BEEN BROUGHT FORWARD TO 7 NOVEMBER *** IFCO2007MALTA will seek to link together all those involved in the development of family-based care in the countries of the EU, CEE, CIS and nearby North Africa. Building on the success of recent IFCO European Conferences in Hungary, Ireland, Finland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia the 2007 conference will move to the island of MALTA which was one of the ten countries which joined the European Union in 2004. Historic MALTA www.visitmalta.com is a relatively small independent country which faces many of the challenges of its bigger European neighbours, including a past over-dependence on institutional care and fresh problems such as unaccompanied refugee children. MALTA has been developing a high quality foster care system over the last few years and they are enthusiastic to share and learn. IFCO events are always about sharing and learning together and we are grateful to the queue of high-quality speakers and trainers who donate their services without payment. The IFCO conference in MALTA is a partnership between IFCO, APPOGG (within Foundation for Social Welfare Services) and the National Foster Care Association of MALTA. The Maltese Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity has enthusiastically welcomed the IFCO conference. IFCO2007MALTA will have a full programme of plenary and workshop sessions plus project visits and an evening social programme. The conference language will be English. IFCO2007MALTA will be followed immediately by the Annual Conference of EuroChild which is also being organised in partnership with APPOGG (this is not in the same hotel). Some people may wish to attend both events which will be linked by a Reception. IFCO Training Seminars are for all involved in the development of quality foster care - young people, foster parents/carers, social workers, students, researchers, academics, trainers, managers and policy makers. IFCO does not put titles on conference badges - everybody is equally important! The IFCO programmes are always full of high quality presentations plus plenty of time for networking and fun and IFCO2007MALTA will be no exception!
